Finally saved up enough for a small simple home studio. Some of you know i'm like a major major techie that also likes to mod so i take alot of photos of um.. electronics of all sorts, be it video cards, liquid nitrogen blocks, modded cases etc etc.

Got it for mainly product photography, portrait for myself and my family, and also for the learning experience!

Also have another white umbella with black blacking not hooked up yet. :P

Did some self portrait.. The lights are definitely softer.. yet with some "harsher" spot. The outcome is still kinda.. Meh. Got any tips?

Yes i know.. i don't have perfect skin kk -_-

I do not know the photography studio but I can say that everything you've done good. With curiosity if it cost you to build such studies?

Um.. i don't quite understand your question.. but if you mean does it cost anything to learn photography.. then the answer is No (well technically yes b/c you need a camera). I learned everything from reading books and forums.

You can take it apart.. it's fairly compact when you tear it down.

Planning on getting a used 580 EXII or a new one off eebay when Bing cashback comes back.

But right now.. The cheaper Yongnuo 460 II flash are really really catching my eyes. The the price of a single 580EX II. I can get 4 of those beasts :O

Hey thanks! I'll turn the lights off when i get home from work tonight and experiment more. Is my umbrella/ reflector setup'd at good positions? Seems like the light could be improved from my photos... i just dunno how to improve it. Guess it's time to go to Barnes&Noble and pick up a few books on lighting.

Can see the ugly colour cast of tungsten light :(

Try bouncing the flash inside the umbrella onto the subject, not shoot through it. Should be nice and soft. Here's a pic (shitty I know haha)

Stick figures ftw! And you get softer lights by using a reflective umbrella? Both Scott Kelby and David Hobby seems to prefer shoot-thru rather then reflective. But i can't replicate their sample pictures using the same setup. There pics are alot better looking >_< I'm such a noob -_-

Meh I'll experiment tonight with reflective setup like you mentioned ^_^

Thanks!
