Hello, I went to the store both camera's are GREAT but I am stuck on which one to buy.

I just want a camera that will give me the best picture quality without that much post editing.

I heard Nikon = Smoother while Canon = Sharper images.

Also which one is built for it not to break easily as in the sensors, not the body.

Just get whichever one that feels better in your hands. The D5000 has video and the XSi doesn't. Both will produce equal images in terms of image quality.

Shutter will have to be replaced eventually. But they're both rated at somewhere around 100k shutter actuations (need confirm).

wrong 100x before just like "im buying a new camera what should i get?" threads. :P <3

you get the one you like.

if you really care for the difference google XXX vs XXX specs
and they will do a comparison of XXX to XXX in areas where one is "slightly" better than the other. or doesnt have a feature but has a feature the other doesnt in return.

the camera is a minor component in photography (lol sounds dumb i know)
its the artist that paints the picture, not the brush.
get whichever one feels best inyour hands

e:
i use a d3k. its nice and i like it, but nikon glass is some of the most expensive, so keep that in mind (you can always get non-nikon stuff too for cheaper ofc)

Like everyone else said, they are both great in terms of quality... just get the one you prefer and feels nice to you :)
