Crazy week here...
One of the "highlights" was a huge fire in a factory close to our house.
The chemicals boosted the flames over 40m high and the sky was all in black smoke.
One could see the mess many kilometers away and especially the disgusting smell.
We had to close all windows and doors asap because of the toxic gases.
Cause is very likely arson...
Never saw so many fire engines, probably any fireman available was here to fight the fire.
The whole street had to be evacuated by disaster control in case the gas tanks and pipelines
below the factory would be effected, this would have ended up in a disaster...
Fortunately i can say im not homeless, they prevent them to explode and blow up our house.
One really learns to appreciate the most basic things when being on the edge to loose everything.
We were out of electricity for some time though and the water is rather a brownish cocktail.
Had to take my shower at university sports hall the other day to be a little refreshed.
The air still smells horrible, but slowly things are normalizing again.
Im glad it snowed a little now to help keep the fire down.
Before we had to leave the place i had the chance to take some pictures either leaning from our veranda or the street.
Excuse me for the low quality, it is probably not the best. On the one hand because i need more practice anyway,
on the other because my hands were shaking and we were quite in a rush to get some urgent things with us.
Anyway, i wanted to share some of them:
View from our porch, i couldnt stay long because the air was smelling horrible.

One of the firemen on a ladder, was a lost battle at first

Kinda liked the angle of this one

The sky turned more and more dark

Behind the house you can see some of the flames, the main fire was further back though.

Mighty pipe of smoke, one could see it far away from the highway.
The sun had a hard time to make its way through it.

Had a cool effect to see the sun fighting through the smoke.
A little of a eclipse of the sun.

Street view with the firemen above our roofs to keep off the fire from taking over.

The street was all jammed with fire engines, police/firemen and water tubes
They ran out of water soon and had to pump it from the local river.

Air support on its way. Some of them carried water, this one made heat images from above
to estimate the damage and see where most water is needed.
