I'm pretty stoked about all of them. Especially the 85 f/1.4, that definitely fills in the cap on the canon lineup, the MTF data is pretty dang on amazing, it even beats the 50 f/1.4 by that comparison. And the siggy 50 f/1.4 is one sharp of a lens.

Lucky i didn't pull the trigger on a bigmo (150-500 OS ) yet. Since they just updated the bigma with OS (optical stabilization). If it's priced well.. i'm buying it for sure over the 100-400L.

The 8-16 is finally a ultra wide angel for a APS size sensor camera. Great additions and looking forward to their release and reviews :P

Apertures like 4.5-6.3 and 4.5-5.6 are worrying. It generally relates to poor build quality :/

4.5-6.3.. You're referrring to the Bigma.. Did you look at the focal length? Even the 100-400L has a max aperture of 5.6 at 400mm. The first bigma was very very well built.

The Canon 15-85 f/3.5-5.6 also has a pretty high max aperture, but it's build quality is significantly better then then 17-55 f/2.8 IS.

Also, for a long lens such as a bigma, it already has a front element size of 86mm in diameter. To make it any faster, it would raise the cost and weight dramatically :[

The 100-400 is an L series lens though, yeah, you lose 50mm at one end and 100mm on the other, but it is superior :/

A focal length of 50 - 500 can't be that good, anything with that much focal range is generally so so.

Are you a gearfag or will you be actually making money out of all your stuff?

The orginal 50-500 was a superb lens, check the user reviews on it on PoTN and FM forums. The new one is getting alot of hype due to OS. and that it's a little more polished then the last version.

I don't make any money of what i do, it's just a hobby. Just like my pc gear, look over on computer hardwares and discussion, i've spend over $20k on pc hardware and play with exotic cooling (phase change, liquid nitrogen etc) over the last 3-4 years. I'm just a extreme hobbist with a well paid stable job who like "gear".

Why bust out the insults over news? : /

Gearfag isn't an insult man, it's just a definition of someone who buys a tonne of gear and doesn't make money off it.

I don't mean to insult you, I just judge equipment based on it's quality and usability on a professional level.

Shouldn't you be at flickr sitting in the middle of a circle jerk?

Well then I apologize, guess I'm just misinformed on the definition. :)

I am by no means a professional, but I do dedicate alot of my time reading and reseaching about the hobby hoping to improve my photography as a whole.

Hope you weren't offended by my previous post. :)

Haha, not offended at all mate, I have thick skin, it's part of being Aussie :P I apologise too if I've offended you too :)

As long as all your reading and researching is well balanced with actual prac work, you should be sweet. Alot of people get caught up with the intellectual side and lose artistic flare :/
