I'm kind of new to photography, I've been taking pictures for a long time, but recently got a d3k (Nikon d3000).
My point-and-shoot digital wasn't enough anymore, and though I realize it is the artist that makes the art not the brush, so I got an upgrade.

Anyone else use this camera? What lenses would you recommend, and what do you like to shoot with it?
I'm up to anything, and sorry for lack of pictures --> I live in western PA and I've been snowed in since I got it, so I've been stuck with taking pictures of my house and the scenery ones around here aren't great.

I can't say I have used that camera, no. I don't use Nikon. I am sure others in here have some input on how the camera is. But you can make any great picture with a DSLR. :) Keep practicing and you should post some photos here sometime!

Thanks, I didn't post here to get wrongly accused about my grammar, however he failed to notice 'picture' was spelled wrongly, and so far it's a great camera and I love it, but not much to do with just one lens.

Hehe your welcome. I understand, most of us are not here to be accusing you of anything, we're pretty good here. Usually the ones that like to start things here stick out pretty good and the issue is resolved. But yeah any DSLR is a great camera for starters, you'll begin to love it even more after all the cool lenses! There are so many fun lenses out there. Macro is fun (I haven't tried that one yet, but it looks really amazing to capture great detail), wide angle is amazing for out-door stuff, and I would also say a zoom is awesome too, using it inside/outside.. seems to be an all round lens. Lenses are expensive, but well worth the cash. In fact, I think I'm going to look into a macro lens, see what they're all about in prices, looks like a lot of fun. :)

Please just don't even post here if you're going to post stuff like that.

^_^ thanks, you're my new best friend. Haha. I was checking on eebay (hope I'm allowed to say that =X) and i found one that wasn't too expensive (not to sound like how I know this is going to sound, but money isn't really an issue =P as long as the lenses aren't like $3,000 a piece), but I wasn't sure what to get/what they'd be used for. It looks like its all of that in one, but I'm not sure. Guess I have some more research to do =P

Ah - well bonus if money is not an issue :) That's great! Lenses can be 3,000 but really, you don't need to get the absolute best - lol. You can get lots of lenses for the price of one lens at that price . And don't worry, you're allowed to say eeeebay here. :D. I would love to shop on eeeebay for stuff, but I am just way new to it. I'd need someone physically here with me to show me for the first time (would help a lot). What lens to get really depends on what you enjoy taking pictures of! :)

Oh forgot to say, thanks for topping up my forum gold, haha, it's even now! <3

If you just started and wants a new lens. Try out a Nikon 50 f/1.8. First of all it's cheap, it's fast. It helps you get down with techniques. Such as framing and zooming with your feet. Also with a fast lens like the 50 f/1.8, you get to practice and play with DOF effects etc.
