I bought an old macro lens off of eebay not long ago, and yesterday it came in the mail. Its a Vivitar Series 1 105mm f/2.5 macro lens. These were the first shots I took with it. We all know how it is, get a new toy and you just have to play with it. I went a bit crazy, snapping anything I seen pretty much. So you'll have to forgive me for that. Really I just wanted to see how sexy the 1:1 reproduction ratio... And I love it! Like I said, forgive me. I didn't really compose, I just pointed and shot...

Key:

Braids:

Shoe:

Outlet. It's a face. Bomberman?

Lol, dog food:

In the future I will need to learn to better use my flash with this lens. Also I need to not abuse the DoF. Sometimes I think I go too narrow, and that can ruin the shot. Anyway... I can't wait until spring now! I will be able to shot insects and flowers galore! Haha...

Very much so. Like I said, I need to learn not to abuse DoF like that. I guess its habit to shoot at such a large aperture. I love shooting at 1.4-2.8 with my 50mm. But with this lens shooting that large of aperture turns around and bites me in the ass. Gimmie some time with the lens and I'll get it, I'm sure of it.

Absolutely :)
The trick for me is asking myself what the subject is, in your first one, is it the key? Then your dof should be wide enough to cover it, I just go by trial and error to find the right one but my guess would be ~16 :P
In the last one, you should choose between front focus on one of the pieces or a long dof, trial and error there too I guess :)

Yeah, I couldn't agree more. But, as I said, these were the first shots with it. Didn't really compose the shots at all. I was just pointing and shooting. Really I can't wait until spring to go outside and start shooting things. I'm very excited for that.

Dog food? Don't you mean hamburger Chan? Haha... Seriously though, this lens is such a blast. Can't wait to get out and use it more, on more desirable subjects ofc...
