(ofc. there's some photoshop editing in this one)

I did my first "real" photoshoot this week, with two friends - really good practise:

(They bought this picture, so I better get some watermark on there)

First Shot:

For technical purposes, the light is wrong. When shooting white on white there is a fine line between definition and bleeding. The white shirt bleeds into the background. Concentrate your light source (if you only have one) on the face more. Even if the shirt appears slightly grey it can be pushed in post.

Second Shot:

It looks fine. Crisp and well exposed. But what exactly is it saying? A portrait isn't just a snap shot of someone, imo. Maybe try utilising the background to compliment the subject?

Sorry if I sound like an arse but criticism around here is rare.

I agree with the white on white comment. Personally I like the second one, the light behind them (natural?) really makes them "pop" from the background. The watermark in it is rather annoying though :P Haha, gotta protect your work right.

Wow, thanks for taking your time to write this!
first: you're completly right! I used the light from the ceiling, which was my only light source! But thanks for the tip!
second: Well, the way they stood were their idea, and I figured that the light from behind would work out great! Again, thanks for the tip.

oh, and you don't sound like an arse to me, I'm just glad someone spent their time trying to help :)

Thanks! Yeah, the lightning is all natural!
Hehe, normally I don't use watermarks, but when somebody else bought it, well.. idk, seemed right ^^
