i was thinking a wide angle or telephoto.

since i want to take more nature/sight shots(landscape/architecture)
and telephoto for portraits.

what are the advantages of the 50mm?

When you are out taking photos as it is, what are you lacking? If you are not certain at what point you are lacking, you are not in for the best upgrade for your needs.
My first buy after my kit lens was a macro, tamron 90/2.8 and I have never been disappointed by that one for macro shots or portraits, and it has sure been handy in many other sitatuations as well.
My next buy will be a better normal zoom (tamron 17-50 2.8 vc) since I dont think the 18-55 kit is good enough for me (not sharp enough and not an aparture big enough either).
So, you should figure, in which situations is it you feel your equipment is lacking? Figure that out and you will either find out what you need by yourself, or you'll be able to get the help you need



advantages with a big aparture 50mm is that it has a short dof and is very light sensitive.

50mm is good for portraits on crop sensor, allso low f-number allows you to shoot in low light and get nice dof. 1.8 if you look for cheap and good iq and dont mind the not so good af that makes alot of noise, 1.4 if your willing to pay more for little bit of more dof and 2/3 of a stop more light, slightly better contrast and sharpness

hard to help you deside what you should buy since your the one who know best what you want to shoot

i thought so.
i dont really need one at the moment unless i wanted to do shots where i setup still lifes or some sort of theme or food shoots.
well everyone can always improve in certain areas, i just wanted to add to my collection since ill probably need most of them anyways.

can i see some of your portrait work with your macro?
i havent tried shooting portraits and im still trying to get use to mine.

ill definitely think about it.
