I'm no photographer and these were all taken with a little camera that isn't too great, but I figured I would share anyway.

These were taken sometime last year while I was on a hiking trip with some friends. I really need to start bringing a camera on more trips, but I hate packing in extra weight.

Shame about the second photo, we have been to that peak twice now, and both times it's been on days that weren't clear. On a clear day you can see the ~70 something miles to the ocean from there.

EDIT: Added a 3rd one I just found from when I was in Yosemite last summer.

Astonishing pictures, the scenery looks so impressive and mighty!!!

I kinda like the first one best with the sun rays and the contrast of green colored plant framework in the front
and the deep look into the background where you see the range of other mountains covered in clouds and the ocean (?) at the bottom.

A great place to travel, thank you for sharing!

Thanks for comments, glad you enjoyed them. :)

@Nara: in the background for the first one, it's not the ocean, it's just clouds that have settled in and cover valley below.

Couple to add:

Here is one from a fishing trip last year (first one), and some others I took the last two days playing around trying to learn how to actually work a camera.

Yeah I am suddenly hooked now I think. I borrowed my dad's old D1x to keep at my house. I'm currently working my way through the manual to try and understand the different settings and what not...

I live about a 45 minute (sometimes 2 hours or so in traffic) drive from Los Angeles, California. I just try spend most of my leisure time in the less developed areas when possible. I already fixed my day pack up in such a way that I can carry the camera and a couple lenses safely along with my camelbak and other basic stuff, so now I am more likely to actually take this stuff along when I go places.

I took quite a few photos over the last two days and have liked very few, but I'm starting to learn some things at least. I was disappointed in some of the shots that I thought would be very good, but then when I came home to take a look the lighting was incredibly poor, or the field of view wasn't nearly as impressive as I had hoped, etc. I'm having lots of fun though, this photography stuff is addicting.

To avoid posting without showing anything at all, here are a couple photos that I was at least somewhat amused with :O

Haha i see, it so much looked like water to my bad eyes... :D
My imagination must have tricked me, saw very similar sceneries on my trips to the Canary Islands and got reminded.
The volcano mountains at the coast line and valleys leading into the ocean look so much like this!!!

I LOVE the sky in the pictures you added.
So beautiful :)

Got to add:

This one caught my interest a lot, i like the focus and this great scenery with the mountains in the background.

Has some familiar touch of fantasy worlds like Middle Earth.
Could easily be used as settings for the next Lord of the Rings movie!!!

But the set will be at the old place in New Zealand again i guess.
