I was supposed to get a Nikon D60 ages ago, and I brought up getting it to my parents around chirstmas, they weren't against it and waited til this week to tell me no, but maybe I could talk em' into a D40.
My question is:
Is it worth getting a D40 to start ? Or should I just wait and get a D60 whenever possible?

Although the Nikon D60 and the Nikon D40x share the same body design and general layout, the major differences between the Nikon D60 and the Nikon D40X are as follows:

# Dust Reduction System: The D60 incorporates an Active Dust Reduction System with built-in airflow control ducts around the lens mount area designed to channel dust particles away from reaching the sensor (minimizes dust from entering camera when changing lenses)

Incorporates an Optical Low Pass Filter (OLPF) vibration system that shakes dust from the low-pass filter automatically on startup and/or shutdown or manually via the setup menu.

# Auto Eye Sensor: the D60 features an eye sensor that provides automatic switching between the vertical and horizontal display format for the LCD monitor (depending on the camera's orientation) and automatic monitor on/off to preserve battery power

and if you scroll down it has spec comparison between the 3. ^_^

the d40 isnt a bad starter camera, a lot of my friends who arent serious about photography have it.
i use to own one, and a d40x as well, its also really easy to handle.

but you can always upgrade to a better camera later on, and use it as a back up camera. ^_^

Over the years I've had plenty of digital cameras, I love photography, I want to turn my loved hobbie into a profession, but no one will believe in me, ahha. So I'm trying to get my parents to get me a Camera so I can show them its not just a waste of money, I do love it, lets hope they have a change of heart. :D

EDIT; I thought they stopped making D40s?
Or at least thats what a photographer from Future shop told me,

well as long as you believe in yourself, thats all that really matters.

if you really want it, you can save money or try to find a job of some sort and buy it. :)
dont let your parents not buying it for you be an excuse not to chase after your dream.

I've been looking for a job for months, I just turned 16 in may, nothing around here, also I thought they stopped making D40s, or atleast shipping them in bulk to shops,
A photographer told me that, that works in Future shop.

Doesn't matter if they stopped shipping them, there are still plenty available. And they're dirt cheap.
