I want to take good quality pictures, like the ones in this forum. So I have this camera at my job and Its 279. Is this a good camera for almost professional quality for the price?
Or could you reccommend another camera for around the $300 price range that would be better? Thanks =]

I have no personal experience of them, but they seem pretty capable.
They do have manual settings which you seem to want

Thanks =] Do you know if most of these users camers run off of a rechargable battery, or like AA's?

Thanks for the link, but honestly it didnt help. Its aimed toward novices, yet I dont even know what a sensor is and it didnt tell me.. Well Ive decided on the Nikon D50, Over the D40 Simply because the D50 has the "Auto exposure Bracketing" Feature. Hopfully ive picked a good camera...
