Haha - macro is a type of picture you would call "close up" - no clue why it's called macro. It should be a function on your camera, check your manual!

does he get to wander anywhere else i'd like to see him near a window perhaps with a bit more natural light

micro = small
macro = huge

or atleast something like that

- As Marie (MotherOfTwo) said, try to get in the same hieght as the bird, or even lower (to make it look bigger and majestic)

He is right by two windows, but it was night time.
