So I worked awhile in the dark room and fell in love with Ilford paper, since going to digital its about the only paper I've printed on. I've bought Fujifilm and Kodak paper once each because the Ilford I wanted was out of stock but never bothered going back to them (they may even be better, I just don't know the perfect settings and paper to use for each print like I do with Ilford). So I'm wondering what everyone likes printing with because I'm interested in trying out some new papers.

In case it matters to anyone I'm printing on a old HP all in one 1310 series, not the greatest by any means but still good enough it seems. I've thought about buying a new epson but damn things are pricey xD

OH ALSO: When you state the paper, make sure to mention what you use it for. For instance I use Ilford Galleria Smooth Gloss for prints which will be held, while I use the Classic for prints which are going to be framed normally because you can see the ink sit on the paper in the classic so it would be more noticeable if it was being hand held (the draw back of smooth is that the blacks aren't nearly as rich as the classic, but the image is smooth).

It's been a while..... a long while.... well, good chance most of you guys weren't even born when I used to print my own black and white pictures in the basement in my parents' house...
I remember it was Ilford Gallery as well, glossy, was quite expensive as well, but I never tried paper form any other company.
I still have my old equipment, but no dark room yet in my house....

edit:
Since I use digital, I only had a couple prints done at a Costco store....
No clue what they use (I'm at work now so I can't check...)

Lol, yeah this is about digital paper mostly =D

And I'm pretty sure costco probably uses large rolls of kodak or fujifilm, that seems to be the most common in big shops.

Kodak paper is actually pretty good. In weddings and sweet sixteens (or equivalent), I print on-the-spot portraits of guests. Back when I started this service - way before I got a laser printer - even inkjet worked wonders. The injet I was gifted is an HP Photosmart C8180 All - in - one, which prints black & whites beautifully, but you must raise contrast and lighting on coloured images. I use the five star Kodak Paper (large packets aren't THAT expensive). Hope this helps.

I can't tell you anything about inkjets. But I've had great results with Fuji Flex and Kodak metallic paper with C-type printing.

Yup, you pointed out a problem I've been having with my HP... the contrast always sucked... I'll try raising is but I dunno how well that will solve the problem.
