This is a very rough idea of what I am doing here. I am putting this all together for a gift. It's a collage of pictures in frames to hang on the wall.

It was really hard choosing all the photos. I couldn't even use all the ones I wanted to. I want it to look nice. I am curious of what you guys think. The person I am giving it to isn't going to notice any "artsy flaws" but maybe they'll notice other things like "there's too much of this, or too little of that". You just never know. So how did I do?

Another question I had was for the "big" picture. It's a 16 x 20 (inches). How do you know whether or not one of my pictures is going to print okay on that ? (I am getting it done at a camera store most likely, so I'd imagine they would have a decent printer)

Anyway, here is what I put together with photoshop (roughly) before printing all of these. I have already bought all the frames needed.

You mean resolution? How do I tell DPI?

The photo there is 3888 x 2592 resolution.

I am not sure what you mean by 200 :P

Edit: Oh, I figured it out. The DPI on mine is 240. Will that work for a 16x20?

And how do you increase the dpi on photos? Or is that based on the camera you have?

Thats a great idea and the photos look fantastic indeed,
fortunately i also know some of them here from the forums in big size :D

Its nice that you picked quite manifold motives in different moods, makes the overall impression very special.

What i noticed after reading the "too much of that, too little of that" passage is that many of them are photos of trees.
But i just cant advise you to put one of them back because they look too good and each deserved to be on it as they contain a different atmosphere :)

Im not an expert on the technical stuff for such a copy store,
but from my sisters photos i know that the people in there can usually tell you in advance what they need and how it will look like.
Of course one pays a good amount of money for it, but still its quite amazing how high the quality of these prints is!!!

Ah - thank you very much! :)

I did notice too that there are a lot of trees but like you said they are taken in a different atmosphere so I think this works out.

Cool - I hope they can tell me if my photo will work out before printing it. I don't even know how it works to print a huge photo like that. Thanks again for your kind reply.

I'm bumping this.

I also am undecided on what to choose for the middle image... I'm not sure I want that one, and there's no way to find out if the person I'm giving it to has a favourite...

It's a rough copy for a reason - lol. I'm not going to put all my time into making it perfect when it's not the real thing xD.

Hi, nice idea. I use MPIX for my printing. They are awesome, inexpensive and have very nice paper. Also I would say the three photos on the left of the 16x20 (from top down) ... those could be replaced by something else. The whole theme screams "nature" which is cool but maybe you wanted to switch things up a little and throw in some other stuff especially as it helps to show your diversity as a photographer. Just saying.

Oh okay, thanks! So perhaps I should put different types of photos in there? Not just nature? Does it really look that bad the way it is if I just left them there? Thanks for the reply! :)
