Explain the shot dude?

I think the lighting is horrible. The flash is too hard and the black background makes the shot look too artificial.

Instead of using flash, try using lamps to create the scene before you shoot it.

Yeah, it could use a bit more fill light to balance it out.
If you're trying to emphasize the cake, I think that there should be more of it in the picture. Instead, it looks like you're emphasizing the flowers.

Seems like you're using 1 off-camera flash for lightning. I'd recommend using a reflector on the back of it to bounce a bit more light into it if you don't have another flash to use.

Besides the light, i like this cake a lot. Yummy!!!
Never seen that many flowers on a cake though. They arent edible, are they?

For which occasion was it made?

Wedding - the purpose of this shot was to portray to conversion of a wedding flower shop to a basic cake & flower shop. For those who complain about the lighting: I said it already. The lower part had strong light because it originally was to have writing on it. Furthermore, the black background & excessively white cake IS to emphasize the flowers. If I wanted a wedding cake for an album I would have made it so :\

I think they were actually wanting a little explanation about the picture, such as why you left the left bottom like that, etc. It makes much more sense now. The shot looks great!
