The first one I think would have looked better if you changed the white balance a bit. I see that orange color from the lights.

The second one is kinda boring... With the lack of a background, you're focusing my eyes onto the tree...which is ... a tree.
Instead of using a flash to take the picture, you should have used a tripod and used a longer exposure time. This way, you would get the tree and a little bit more of the background to make it more interesting.
