just reiterating that i did not take these photos.

Leaving the size of the photos out of it... As you've stated, you didn't take them... but I think that there is a little too much shadow around the eyes - especially in the first one.
If you use a reflector or a flash with a bounce card, you can even the lighting out a bit.

I'm learning also, this was just a bit of fun :)

there was no flash used, the lighting was all constent, using a backlight and a difused light on the front.

ah so a bouce card is to create a reflected flash?

Yeah bounce cards are especially useful when you're shooting under fairly well lit conditions and just want to remove the shadows from the eyes.

You point the flash straight up and the bounce card will bounce a little bit of the light towards your subject while letting the rest of the light go straight up and away. This will cause a little bit of fill light and will even out the majority of the shadow on your subject's face.
