I have a question to those of you who use the "bulb" option, when making pictures.
I read somewhere, that using that option for a long time (like 1h) in a compact camera
is dangrerous to the sensor (can overheat etc.)

I have an Olympus SP-590 UZ and I have second thoughts about using the Bulb option
for such a long time. Please help!

Im pretty sure that on olympus models, the bulb option is maxed out at 8 minutes.

Can't overheat if it's not moving.
It's just open, it overheating when it's opening and closing too much.
BULB Just keeps it open.

I don't believe there is any restriction on BULB Either.
I know people who shoot light trails at like 40 minute exposures, nothing happens to them, and they are professional.

I heard that it's safe to use bulb in a reflex camera, but I have no idea how it works in a compact

I checked in the manual, and you are right :(

yes you can overheat your sensor but that's only if you are letting something like the sun shine into it. I cant see why you would be using bulb in a situation like that :).
