So I decided it was about time for some new family portraits.
I didn't have a back-drop, lights, or anything else.
Simply my camera and the light from a window.
Lmk what you think.
Btw sorry I haven't posted for awhile, I recently moved and I just haven't got around to taking any photos.
I might go out tonight around sunset to snap some photos of flowers in the gardens of my neighbors.

great lighting, Im a little fuzzy on the skin tones since they look a little irregular, it could be my screen though.

What's up with the skin tones?
Like the WB is off on them or something.

I screened and overlayed it to try to make the faces smoother looking. (Blemishes are hated in this family lol, and with teens there's alot.)
I kind of like the look of it, and so does the family, so I'm gonna leave em.
Thanks for the advice though.
I'll work on getting better lighting next time to prevent me from having to screen and overlay.
Take Care,

Posting an Example w/o any editing.
Just a sec.

Unedited version of one, they all had this lighting before I edited:

It looks to dark imo.

You can use the dodge tool to lighten up the faces a bit and then the spot heal/heal/stamp tool to edit out blemishes....otherwise you can also turn down the saturation of the red channel and compensate with a warmer yellow/orange color. (Photo filters can work sometimes)

If you only have one light source and it is coming from one side, a head on picture doesn't work that well unless you're going with a huge contrast in lighting from one side of the face to the other. I'm sure you realized this, but whoever is on the left side is a lot darker than everyone else.

Also, try picking a different background. In the unedited picture, you can see that the wall has some texture instead of giving it a cheapo "we're in a studio with a white backdrop" effect. It just seems a bit 'copy+paste' for my tastes.

All you needed was 1 reflector and it would have made a huge difference.

work on controling your specular highlights. Looks like u could use more diffusion.

also, when shooting high key, which it looks like u attempted to do, try to avoid dark clothing. also, desaturate ur red channel by about 10 points in most portrait situations.
