Anyone else do this? It is much harder than taking pictures of cats & flowers :)

I don't do wedding photos, but I totally understand where you're coming from when it comes to taking pictures of people. It's hard because the "shadows" are not right, or the lightning looks unnatural, etc. It's a very fussy area to be in.

Did you shoot that with a wide angle? The people look very distorted. To make that shot better, find some shade and use a long lens - like a 70-200 or something.
The mix of highlights / shadows on the face are kinda bad and the shade would minimize that. Also, wedding couples like pictures with a lot of bokeh - so try and shoot with a very small aperture on some of the shots...or PS the background.

thanks, although a lot of shots were taken with different focuses. Shadows on the face were because of a bad assistant with reflector :)

edit: nvm on additional

I do the occasional wedding. Not as like a business or anything. Its more or less that I do it as a favor for close friends or family members. My parents were really big into wedding portraits, so I've learned a small amount from them.

Real live wedding events are a challenge. My brother and I run a business of event photo/video. I've been cramming 4 hrs+ a day to learn everything in four months with the Sony AX200 & photoshop 7.0 I use. Not only is it more rewarding, but there is nothing better than someone looking at each one of your images with honest interest.

I've shot one wedding before.
It was a lot of fun, very rewarding and a great experience.

It's fun to get them with fun people. Some weddings are very very formal and straight in the books, and some may be wild and wacky and fun!!

It's all about getting the once in a life time event for them to remember forever as a couple.

Lots of fun

This wedding was in a 5 star hotel :\
You can imagine how far up the bride's head was in her ass.
