This might not be the best, but if your looking for an SLR, I would suggest E-bay. There are great film SLR's going for less then $100 with two or three lenses, and if your looking for a DSLR I would go there too, I haven't been looking at them though so the prices may be higher.

I got my Sony Alpha 300 and the 18-75mm Kit Lens for about $580 and it's been working great for the past 4 months or so that I've had it.

I'm not really sure, I'm still rather new and kinda just jumped into photography not that long ago. My camera I just bought because it was the cheapest DSLR I could find.

Most of it depends on what your going to be taking pictures of, if your gonna be doing night photos and stuff you'll want to look for good noise rendition and maybe look into a tripod or an extra flash or two. If you'll be doing action shots you'll want some faster shutter speeds, most cameras that I've seen, even point and shoot's, go up to at least 1/2000 shutter speed.

That's about all I can think of now, I'm sure some of the other people on these forums could do a better job, I'm still fairly new.
