I'm not much of a photographer, but it's something I've always wanted to get into. These were taken with a random 14.6mp hd cam I found laying around the house, so they're not incredibly detailed.

Edit: The title says "Lake house." I meant river.

I like the composition on the first picture.
However, the flower ones would have been nicer wth a shallower Depht of Field..
That was you put the flower in the 'spotlight' and blur the background :)

I agree,
Also I think you might consider cropping, and adjusting the saturation to make the second flower "pop" more.

This might be harsh, but you're a first time poster (Unless you've posted before, I haven't seen you post here before?)

Anyways, I find nothing interesting in any of the images. Nothing grabs my attention, stands out to me, or makes me think.
They are...plain.

However, they are an excellent start!
The first one in my opinion is the best, because of the fact the composition is great.
The faster shutter speed worked perfect to show the real blues in the sky.
However, the exposure is off in the way the foreground is underexposed, and too dark.
The harsh spots of light are too distracting!
You can fix this by trying to even out the lighting, or try playing around with the exposure setting to get the sky and foreground to work together.

When it comes to flower photographer, I'm quite picky.
They both are not catching at all for me.
You composed them in a way which centers the subject, which is not appealing! Do NOT center your subject!!
You should check out a quick search on Google for "Rule of thirds" to work on your composition, I believe this will help you achieve more of a "pop" in your photos, which would
grab the attention of the viewer!

Flower photography is a tough subject, the problem is..we all see flowers! And we all see them from the exact same perspective and point of view, from ABOVE!!
This makes shots boring, because it's like we've seen it already!
Try different perspectives on the photo, get low to the ground, I believe this will make your photos much more appealing and dramatic!

Lastly, If you have any image editing software, I would suggest a slight contrast/saturation increase, this would make
for some lovely tones in your photographs.

You're off to a great start, and I look forward to seeing more from you!!
