So my bro went on a camping trip recently and took a bunch of pictures, he got one of something that he couldn't see but, it's sure as hell there in the picture. We're not sure wtf it is, have any of you ever gotten a picture like this before? (Sorry for the size of the picture, I haven't really messed with resizing pictures at all.)

The creek and the things on the right side are what he was taking a picture of, their little target practice setup, however the big ball in the middle, slightly to the left is what we don't know about. Never seen anything like it before.

It seems like a perfect circle and when we zoom in a little bit, we can see some other circles gradually smaller in size inside of it, still no clue wtf it could be though.

Spec of dust on the lens that light hit and went through when entering the censor.

I sure hope you weren't thinking this was some sort of paranormal....LOL.

I wouldn't know, don't know if it's paranormal or whatever, it only shows up in that one picture though and it was taken at dusk which I assume would mean it's not light shining on the camera. The camera lens doesn't sit open to the air either, it's encased in plastic until the camera is turned on, so it's pretty clean. Anyways i'm shutting my comp off for now, big storm hitting and the power just flickerd, time to go try and snap some pics of lightning!

Haha sorry but I find it hilarious when people think it's a "ghost" or some paranormal activity. It's just dust. I've had similar things on my photos.

I'm curious why everyone is claiming it's thought to be a 'ghost' or 'paranormal', when was that mentioned other than the second poster saying "I sure hope you weren't thinking this was some sort of paranormal"?

Simply put, I wasn't sure what it was, nor were my brother or uncle & cousin for that matter, I posted asking if anyone knew what it might be.

I'd agree it's a spec of dust, if not for the shape of it, I can't feature a piece of dust forming a nearly perfect circle like that. Nor would I assume it to be a reflection of light either, considering the time of day and the fact that the only light in that area is coming from a camp fire- behind the camera, not in front of it. (possibly a flash too, my brother says he was pretty wasted and can't remember if he had the flash on or not. -_- )

However after seeing all of these "paranormal" comments, I ran a google search on "Paranormal Orb", then after reading down the page a bit, "Spirit Orbs", try it if you find that stuff funny and want a laugh. ^_^

Still don't know what it is, also for clarification, I don't *technically* believe in an after life, however I don't honestly see how it'd be a piece of dust... guess it might always just be an unknown.

It could be a piece of dust too, I just don't see how it'd form that.

It is without a doubt a spec of dust. You asked the people who would know, several people said it was, don't doubt them. We know our shit.

have you ever been in a room with a streak of light coming through the blinds and you can see the dust floating through the air? its probably a speck the same size as one of those.
i saw a group on facebook the other day about "orbs" and it made me lol so much that i joined it i wanted to go back and post some edited photos with red orbs cause apparently they are evil or angry and wanted to know what they would say if i posted a cute little baby amongst them

Paranormal conspiracy theories aside, these 'white orbs' are a well documented phenomenon that happens in both still photography and video recording. They don't really know what causes them to appear. Most skeptics like to use the 'dust' argument, but significant testing has been done that pretty much disproves that dust is the cause of these orbs to appear.

I tried to find this crazy video I saw a while back where the guy had his camera rolling with night vision on and there were tons of these white orbs just flying in and out of nowhere. It was creepy as hell to see. Funny thing is the guy shoots adult oriented stuff (porn) and just happened to capture this crazy phenomenon with his female model sitting in the frame. He made no claims to anything paranormal, just really commented on how it completely ruined the shot, but it was like the best recorded documentation of this white orb phenomenon I have ever seen.

I don't think it's a ghost, but I don't think it's dust either. I just felt like I should comment being that everyone here seems to be wholly convinced it's dust. Until someone produces a shot of their own with a similar effect that they can empirically prove was caused by a dust particle, I think they should do more research.

I personally think it's a 'speck' with tiny little who's living on it.

I found the video I was talking about. Believe whatever you want. The facts: the following video was shot inside a garage. It was not snowing or raining outside. The orbs were not seen by the model or the camera operator at the time of the recording, but as you can see, the model 'senses' something happening around her. There does not appear to be a rational or defined source of the 'dust particles.'

Note the orb at 0:57 on the right side of the model and 1:03 to the left of her head.

Creepy, eh?
