Ye some of you might have seen me around in the graphic design section for quite some time ( 2+ years ). I recently decided trying to get into photography. I just don´t seem to have the time to get out and really try to shoot some good photos atm. But since I really want to start photographing with my crappy Digicam ( Sony DSC-W55 ), I decided to grab some random objects, put them in a cool looking position and massively click that little button on top of my camera in hope to get one good shot. Well that´s what turned out best in 10 min shooting :D

remember its one of my first shots. lets call it a..... still life? Its slightly edited in photoshop already to improve the points my camera sucks on ( lighting, contrastm sharpness etc ). let me know if it has any potential concerning composition, idea, etc and if its any appealing. oh and be harsh if you want, I can take it. I´m harsh myself sometimes^^

Pretty neat start.

Great DoF achieved by using a lower aperture, nice job!
Great focusing point, in the view that you were able to get all the words in focus.
Another thing I like is the view point, if you've read some of my other threads you know I feel strongly about how dramatically the view point can change the image.
The reflection of the background drink is also very neat, great job with the lighting on that!

A few things I think would make this better would have to be slight better processing.
Not that it's required, however you being from the graphic design section, I would have perhaps expected something that might pop a bit more!
Perhaps a selective coloring? I know most energy drinks have some vivid colors, and if you played with contrast a bit and added some selective coloring, I think this would have looked very neat.

I also see some noise in top right, against that wall.
Thus is caused by using a higher ISO to compensate for lower light.
However, if you used a tripod, and a lower ISO, it would balance out and not have that noise.
OR, you could process the noise out by using Noise Ninja, which is what I use, and is the only noise reduction I would recommend!

Overall great start, I look forward to seeing more! :)

If you use Photoshop - get the Noise Ninja plug in for it... its pretty awesome.
