Hey photographers. I´m pretty interested in photography lately, since I´m already pretty familiar with image editing and stuff. But its bugging me that I barely edit my self shot images. So, I wanna get my own cam and shoot some fantastic shots in future. I currently have a simple Sony DSC-W55 digicam with carl-zeiss lens and 7.2 megapixel. good enough for some random party pics and stuff, but I wanna go further now. So, long talk short sense, what camera would you guys suggest me to buy for starting up with serious photography. I wanna find something that isnt too expensive, but has comparetively high quality. I thought about a canon rebel XTI or something. Is that a good one? I´m a little bit inhibited because of the price though. let me know

I highly recommend looking into that Canon Rebel XTi. It's a good starter camera :) I personally waited two more weeks and put the extra money towards an XSi (the next upgrade from the XTi) There are a lot of members in this section with an XSi now - its a really great camera! The XTi will definitely make you happy! :)

Oh and one last thing - you get what you pay for in photoghraphy. This saying has never been more true. If you cant afford something now, wait a bit and save up, you will NOT regret it.

The D300 is really amazing. If you can afford it, defiantly go for it. - Otherwise there is the D5000 or D60/D90. I don't really know Cannon products as well, but what is your price range?

I was actually just looking at the D5000 and it seems it's the camera that was released to replace the D80 (the one I use). It's quite nice actually... the screen is extremely versatile. The only really annoying thing about it is it's size, weight and construction. It weighs a lot less, is a lot more rubbery and the sidegrip is much smaller than the D80 - all of which I feel is kind of sad :( With that being said, if you do go for a D300 don't forget that it literally is HUGE. Me who has relatively small hands can hardly hold the grip on it :/

Heh, the D300 with the battery pack was hugggeeee compared to my D100, but after using it for months - anything smaller just feels like a toy.
Even when I take the vertical grip off to charge a battery or something, the camera just feels small.

Also, the D300 LCD is AMAZING. 3 in. LCD screen...wouldn't trade it for anything.
