To people, build a website, get a client base.
You have to get your name out.

I know people who have sold theirs in small booths in street markets, mall kiosks, and, my personal favorite, a Cafe.
If you can persuade a Cafe coffe house owner to allow you to hang your framed, large prints in his Cafe, you could make big bucks.

I know a guy, who did this for a month. (Eg. he left his massive 20x30 prints, some tagged at $800, and one, of a baby whale being born at $1300) He made over 10Grand. (And of course part of the proceeds he makes goes to the Cafe owner!)

I just sell to people I know, Facebook is a great social network to get your name around if you have a lot of contacts on there.
I've done 1 wedding, and from there I gave my business card out to everybody there, and that got me booked in for 2 family portraits, and another wedding. (+ Some people buying framed prints as gifts etc.)

Depending on what you photograph, you can try doing stock photography for websites like www.istockphoto.com etc.

Stocky photography takes a LONG time though.
I know a guy who has become a large contributor for shutterstock.
(The last issue of PhotoLife has him in it too)

And he says that it took him a long time to get known, and to have people downloading and buying his stock images on a regular bases to provide a decent source of income.

definitely worth a try though :)
(That is of course if you are willing to give away the photo, the rights to reproduce etc.)
