Just thought some of you might find this semi interesting, so I figured I'd post it... This is what I do for money. Let me kinda explain how it works. I use a FinishLynx camera to take these. The FinishLynx is a finish line camera. It takes little image slices, up to 2000 per second. Then the slices are put together to create the image. (For horse racing I set the speed to about 1500 per second.) So what you are looking at, is the finish line of this race, and everywhere you see is the finish line. As the horses run through, the image is recreated in relation to time. So here you see two horses crossing the line within 2 tenths of a second of each other...

Pretty cool huh?

Its take a 1xsome number of pixels, so its a picture of the finish lines colors that you would see if you took a normal picture and took a single line of pixels out.

Not sure what else you really wish to know about it. Wanna just send me a PM with your questions? That way I can know the specifics of what you were hoping to have answered.

No those "lines" aren't the slices, David has the right idea there. The slices are vertical and put together that same way. The lines are just a repeat of that same part of the slice. There are two distinct white lines which are the rails on each side of the track, one at the very top and one in the bottom quarter of the photo. The other colors are just from the dirt mostly, interesting how you get teal colors from dirt, but that's really all it is. Its just like selecting a single column of pixels on a photo in Photoshop and making it repeat all across the screen.

You should take a normal picture of the track and compare it with the slices and post it here.

That's awesome. Although I don't quite understand it. What do you make money from? Taking the picture and selling it or?
