So I got a 80$ camera, it is not what I wanted.. It was a christmas present and it does not take good quality pictures I want..

I am taking Photo class next year, and want to experiment this summer, (I love photography), and such.. Well I seen an ad on tv that made me crave picturing and it was an ad on the new camera " canon rebel t1i " :)

I was wondering which canon i could get in the price range of like 150$ - 200$ not 800$ like the rebel t1i.. :S

I want to take good resolution picture and be able to focus and such..

thanks for the help, i may tip with FG if i see what i want ;)

e/ also if i am looking for a crisp clean picture? will i want to buy a good lens? or what do i do for pictures like these pro's i have seen posting pictures on here? :O

Well the body doesn't really matter as much as the lens that you get with it. I have a D100 and a D300...both of them are not that great with bad lenses (55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 , 28-80mm f/3.5). However, just by adding a 17-55mm F/2.8 lens to the D100, the picture quality is much better. I'm not too familiar with old cannon bodies, but if you're looking for a camera regardless of brand, you can get the D100 for $100-$300. It will work with pretty much any DX lens that you can find. If your max with all accessories is $150-$200 - you might want to stick with a point and shoot or advanced point and shoot camera.

A 'good' lens will run you $800+ (Not talking about the fast prime lenses like the 50mm F/1.8 or F/1.4) - Try to find a fairly manual camera if you do go with an DSLR as that is the best way to learn. Having the camera adjust all of your settings for you is boring and you won't get the effect that you wanted.

I'd suggest getting a DSLR as well... throw out the idea of point and shoot, because you're soooooo limited as to what you can do there. You won't regret buying a DSLR!!! I already pm'd you about what I use and stuff ;)

The t1i is $1099.99 CAD At the moment.

I'm not going to make suggestions, because I don't really know of any "Good" cameras for under $200 that are an SLR.

Well first of all I think T1i is so expensive only because it could capture video clips in full HD. It is a feature that is nice to have BUT not something a photographer would need especially when Canon is charging people premium for that feature -.- Judging by the very very high pixel number I would guess it's high ISO performance and image quality in general is similar or worse than EOS 50D which according to Dpreview and several other well known photography sites are inferior to the older EOS 40D. If you want to get really sharp images you would need very very expensive Canon L series lenses -.-. Anyway as others have pointed out you won't be able to get decent cameras for 200 bucks even a decent lens cost a lot more than that. I think the cheapest you can get right now is Nikon D40 with a kit lens or one of those cheaper Olympus dslrs but in my opinion the lowest you should get is the Canon Rebel XS.

you wont get other than point and shoot for that price and you cant focus yourself with it and they all get really noisy if its not clear day light. Maybe u could get 300d(rebel in america) or 350d(rebel xt) for that price used. 300d is pretty old camera and i wouldnt suggest of getting that, but if you can find a 350d it should be ok, even tho its pretty old too, but its still ok and waaaaay better than eny point and shoot camera. Price of used 350d with kit lens in finland is around 200€
