Hey guys! I took some snapshots of my friend today. I used my new flash and a bunch of random lamps from my room... Unfortunately I couldn't get rid of the shadow (any tips?) Seems like I won't get along without a softbox,etc... however, pls tell me what you think and what I could do better the next time :)

nice i like them

i also like the double shadow effect because its soft. i think something maybe for next time is to vary stuff a bit, because you've mostly got your friend stood touching her head, maybe involve, props, different angles, different poses?

but overall pretty cool! well done :)

Hhmm....Well, in my opinion I think they are a good start.
The lighting is OK, but there are some distracting harsh shadows (Around chest, chin, neck, nose etc.)

also, I feel as if I've seen every shot after the first because you have the model in the exact same pose, just from different angles...Definitely doesn't catch my attention :(

I also don't feel they are very clear, or have any main focusing aspect. With portraits of humans or animals, you would often focus in on the eyes. (Or at least from what I've heard and read.) It helps bring emotion.

Another thing I notice is it seems as if she's only smiling in very few of the shots.

Try redoing them, concentrate on capturing emotion, and focusing in on the eyes.
If you're using a light from the left side (Which is where I feel the light is coming from on all the shots) get a reflector (It can even be a white piece of cardboard) and put it
to the right of the model to take those harsh shadows up and bring out some of the highlights in the model.

Hope this helps ^_^
