Just bought a really amazingly crappy Holga 120GCFN, just wondering if anyone's got any high ASA colour film recommendations, I want to try take photos in a club, and obviously the lighting there won't be great.

afaik 800 iso is highest that u get in color, since developing color film is so complicated that you most likely wont do it by yourself, so you cant even push it for higher iso.

I've got one of the best labs not far away that definitely do process push or pulled film, just wandering if anyone's got any experience with the higher rated films. I reckon the lighting won't be too bad, seeing as there're lots of light and I'll have a flash.

800 iso color film is pretty rare here atleast, so i think ur just going to have to settle what ever you can find near you. I cant help you more with that since i never used 800 iso color films. But if you use flash 800 iso should be desent, maybe u could even go with 400 and use longer shutterspeed. Does that holga have auto flash compensation? I bet it doesent and using flash outside studio will be pain in the ass, since if your target moves one meter away from you you need to measure that flash again with light meter.. Allso since you will be most likely using f-2.8 you are going to miss focus really often, so take alot of film with you and be happy if you get even one or two shots good. Personally i wouldnt shoot with manual camera in some club, its hard enough to get good shots even with a good dslr.. Not to mention how much all that film and processing will cost.

Holga lens only goes up to f8, which is why I'm looking for the fast film. I'll give some 800 pushed (or is it pulled?) to 1600 a try, see how it turns out, £20 on an experiment is money well spent.

for normal room light f-2.8 iso 3200 and 1/60 to 1/30sec is good, so with f-8 you can only dream to shoot with in a club, unless you use really long shutterspeed and a flash. But If camera doesent have auto flash compensation(that i highly doubt) you basicly wont be abe to shoot there even with flash, because you need to meter it and if target moves a meter flash will be like +/- 1ev wrong and pic will be ruined. Allso if you would get lets say 1 out of 36 shots correct light, focus and composition(and that would be really goos to get even that much) you will need much more than 20£ for the film + developing.

with 80mm lens and f-8 on 6x6 film focusing at 2.5 meters the focused area would be from 2 to 3meters, so not that easy to get the focus right on the spot even with f-8

Focus wouldn't matter so much, as I'll probably go for lots of motion blur.

I'll give it a try for the next BF if it's arrived in the post, see how it all works out.

you wont get motion blur with flash and without flash u need to use so slow shutterspeed that you wont get enything out of the pics. But with flash u just might be able to handle it, when using flash at clubs it looks cool if you use real slow shutterspeed, so you might be able to handle with 800 iso without pushing it

I know, I have no problem with that though.
