imo film isnt great to start with, since you cant test so much different settings for one subject and u cant see later what setting you used. Allso film developing and film costs quite alot, unless you develope yourself and then u can get b&w only and need a scanner to scan the negatives.

It would be easier if you say something more. :)
- Budget?
- Analog or digital?
- Style of photographing?
- Dslr or compact.

I think you should pick a Canon like the 400D, 450D or the 1000D. But in may the prices will drop because of the new 500D.

e/ I use the 450D. But ask some of the others. Chantal have the 400D, you can see pictures from that camera in her topics.

with 400€ u should get 400d with kit lens or cheap nikons. If u want some old cheap manual focus lenses u could go with cheap nikon, but canon has better af(auto focus) lens lineup. Cheap nikons are missing af motor in the body, so u can use autofocus with all lenses, but again for nikon u can get good old manual focus lenses for cheap..

You could get a Sony a200, it is a beginner cam and should teach you all the stuff you need to know, I think it is well within your budget as well.

If you wanna push the boat out (like Antichrist- was saying) i two would get a canon 400d.
