Well, I've been looking around for a camera and from what I've seen and heard Canon is the best people to go with when it comes to buying cameras but so far I have yet to find a camera from them with the features I want for less then $250. I still don't understand how Fuji could be that much worse then Canon but I could be wrong.

I need a better zoom, something like 10x or more, at least 8 mega pixels, macro and some other settings that are on most cameras anyway.

This is the camera I was looking at, its got...
http://www.shopfujifilm.com/detail/FUJ+15929469
* 10 Megapixel 1/2.3”CCD
* Fujinon 12x Optical Zoom (33mm-396mm equivalent)
* 2.7” LCD w/ 230k pixel resolution
* Dual Image Stabilization
* Combines Mechanical Stabilization (CCD-Shift) combined with Higher Sensitivity for complete anti-blur protection
* Face Detection w/ Automatic Red Eye Correction
* New SR AUTO Automatic Scene Recognition mode enables camera to recognize 4 scene types automatically
* Zoom Bracketing captures 3 shots automatically at standard zoom, 1.4x and 2.0x digital multipliers
* Continuous Shooting and Panoramic Shooting modes
* Continuous Moving Subjects AF = Anti blur shooting
* High Sensitivity ISO1600 at full resolution
* 4 x AA Battery Power

Let me know what you think, maybe a link to a better camera.

This isnt a DSLR. It's a super-zoom camera. A DSLR has much more settings that can truly be adjusted. Some cameras such as this have those features, but they are controlled digitally and are not as flexible as a DSLR.

Ok, shows how much I know. I'm too stupid for a DSLR anyway..

dont worry its easy to get confused. This may look like a DSLR, but it isnt. At $250 you would probably be looking at a used DSLR, or even a film SLR. What sort of things do you want your camera to do?

I don't need a DSLR, too much for me. I want a good zoom - I like taking wild life pictures and its rather difficult to get close enough with 5x zoom. At least 8 Mp's - I like the photos and I take and I have about 3 or 4 empty frames hanging in my house that I wouldn't mind filling, also just for more clarity. Macro setting - I take a lot of close ups like of flowers etc.

Those are the basic ones, simple interface (relatively) and some others.

This questions gets asked way too many times.
There's a sticky I made that has info on every brand's entry level DSLR at the top.
XSi.

Ps: The link & Camera you posted is a Point and Shoot.
There's a difference, it looks like a DSLR, however it's not a single lens reflex camera.
It's just an extended zoom p&S (That's why it looks like a DSLR.)

I don't want a DSLR, I read your post the first day I started posting my photos here. All the DSLR's I've seen as too expensive for someone who isn't even sure how long they will be doing photography for.

Then why title "Looking To Buy My First Dslr"

Anyways, My first p&s was an Extended point and shoot (similar to the one above)
I used the Canon S5 Is. Since then, Canon has released better point-and-shoots than it, and it was an amazing camera.
Like the Canon G10, It's newer and better than the S5, so I would recommend it.

Because at first I didn't know exactly what a DSLR, your guide doesn't explain it really, and if it does I didn't pick up on it.

Also, the G10 is around 299-350, I've only got 250 about left.

this has already been said mate!

as long as the camera does everything you want it to then you can consider it. But before you buy something make sure 100% you wont regret your purchase, because if you regret something you've bought you will not use it.
