Awww! Can't you just convince those cheap jerks at your local camera store to let you keep that lens? course I really like those macro pictures you have posted in here :)
The picture of ants is really amazing and I didn't know that their bodies are so shiny lol

Haha Marie you're funny. ^_^

I do like that ant shot as well - so cool! Too bad you couldn't keep the lens!

The wasp one there scares me, I hate those things!

You know lol I've kinda started looking at some of those cheaper macro lens too after seeing those awesome pictures of yours :)
I believe there is the EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact macro lens which is quite a bit cheaper than the lens you used but I am not sure how good it is though.

hm, I don't know either... however, it was my birthday yesterday and I got an awsome tripod, a mini - tripod and a polarizing filter... next steps for me will be 2 lenses: 70 - 200/2.8 and 17-40/4 ... I will definitely buy a macro lens, but these two must be first ;) and they are daaaammmn expensive^^

hahaha so your birthday was on the 12th? ^^ mine was on the 11th :D Well a very late happy birthday to you
So which awesome tripod did you get? :O
hmm those two lenses you want to get are indeed very expensive. Are you going to get the IS version of the 70-200 f/2.8 or the non?
Well I really want to get a couple of lenses myself with the first one being an ultra wide lens and I also kinda want to get the EF 16-35 f/2.8 L lens but this one is going to take awhile though lol.
I have read some reviews on both the EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact maco and the one you used which seems a lot better because it yields a magnification of up to 1x which means the subject can appear lifesize on the sensor while
the compact macro only gives a 0.5x magnification but the ideal macro lens would be the EF 100mm f/2.8 USM but the price is high though  .

Oh cool, happy birthday to you as well :) I got a manfrotto 190xprob/804rc2 - I love it ^^
ofc I would like to get the lens with IS, is this such a big price difference? As I said I don't know much about macro lenses, but the 65mm/2.8 seems quite nice to me... =)
