Sorry for repeated subject, but i have just recieved a Canon 85mm 1.8 lens.

It is a nice weight, and feels very solid. I was suprised how fast shutterspeeds i could use at f/2.8 and below!

So here are a couple of pictures of Jess. I love the bokeh of this lens smile.gif
Any tips and comments are welcome.

Cheers

What was your dog doing in #2? lol looks like it was barking or something, cute fangs though ^^
I really like the nice background blur as well and I am definitely going to get one of those wide aperture lenses.

nice, the wide aperture lenses are really cool, in a normal lit room the 85 can get 1/60 (no blur) shots at 1.8. You could prob get 1/40 fine with the 50mm!

how close does this lens focus? When I do buy one I want to use it to take pictures of a flowers and such - would this lens do that well?

to fill the frame with a standard size flower you would have to do some cropping. You would want to buy a macro kit tube or somthing to help the 85 take close ups of flowers because its closest focus point is 0.85m. The 50mm 1.8 is 0.45m but im not sure which is best.
