So I bought the 50mm f/1.8 II Lens a couple days ago... and... I think I like it (don't really know what to photograph at this point). Just wondered what kind of photos you've seen taken with this lens, or if you've used it, etc... smile.gif

Maybe even give me some ideas? ^^ I think this could be a fun thread...

And, another question or so.... what kind of accessories should I get for this lens? I don't even have anything protecting it right now.

These photos are test shots... you always gotta test it on something right in front of you ^^. (Special thanks to Njaguar for upgrading it to 10 [ i m g ] pics per post :))

Congratulations! Well those pictures look pretty sharp and nice and I definitely like the more natural colors in those pictures you posted above so much nicer than those very pale and white colors in the photos taken with a flash lol.
Anyway if you need ideas of what you want to take pictures of with your new lens you may want to check out this sample gallery:

With the 50mm 1,8 it is always fun trying to make something in focus and make the background to a nice bokeh. smile.gif
Try to get out at night and catch something special, like a bug or something, on a lightpole, then you can use the other lightpoles as the background.

You just have to carry the lens around and try to get special objects in different angles.

And I really like the first one with the rings. Btw, you have a beautiful hand and fingers. ph34r.gif

heres some old shots with the lens and 400d, that arent portraits. First thing you could shoot is portraits from everyuone in your family

this is taken with cheap macro lens kit on that lens, that you should get if you like macroing. It costs only around 40-50 $

if I were you I'd experiment with it's ability to have a really low shallow DOF - I can't think of any examples but I'm sure if you googled some shallow DOF pictures you'd find some inspiration smile.gif

oh and I like the first shot, the one ring is totaly in focus and it draws my eye right to it!

That's an odd photo - haha, and no doubt the rings were hard to balance! ohmy.gif

Yeah, I love the sharpness on them... definitely going to be using this lens a lot more than my other kit lenses (god I was sick of those pieces of crap).

Thanks - the one with the rings I liked the best too, hehe, but it wasn't my hand wink.gif

I kinda forgot to mention that you may want to get a good UV protection filter if you want to use it outdoor or just simply want some kind of protection for the front part of the lens.
