Im kinda just getting into photography. Its pretty fun. Im using a Canon Powershot Sd 500. Ive been using the auto option. Im still not familiar with all of the adjustments and stuff yet. I cant even figure out how to delete just 1 pic. It only gives the option to delete all..... Anyway... here aer some of my first few... Tips and critiques are ofc welcome.

I like the 2nd one, the first I think could have been really nice, but it is out of focus. You camera focused more on the stem then on the flower.

Thanks for the links. Ill be sure to read up and try to learn something from it. Like I said I just got the camera and I have taken maybe a total of 12 pics.

I didnt think the first one was blurry, but Im noob so..... It was windy that day and I got lucky to get that shot. You should have seen some of he ones I did delete.

There are a lot of features on it that help with differant kinds of pictures. Im slowly experimenting with them to see what kind of results I get. Hopefully Ill be able to get the hang of it soon.

Btw, did I make a bad choice in cameras? Or is it just that my photography skills just arent great? ( I know a beginner can still take bad pics even with the best of cameras) Or is it both....?

your camera will have a lot of manual settings but i suggest working on your composition and doing some reading on the manual settings once your comfortable with your photos your getting with auto, no need to jump in the deep end; also with the flower photo try using a macro or super macro setting on your camera.
don't forget if theres a button you don't know what it does and u wanna know the manual is actually generally speaking at least a tad useable ; when i got my 1st camera i was going overseas so i read the manual on the flight there but i know in retrospect half of what i read made absolutely no sense whatsoever to me at the time.

good luck with your new camera i hope you get some nice photos and send me a pm to any threads u post i sometimes forget to visit over here
