Im looking to get a Camera just to take show of whatever I happen to see when Im out hiking or boating whatever.

Looking for something digital, can take detailed shots, and keeps color. My current Camera (Sony cyber-shot. its old) desaturates colors the a bit.

Price range:

$100 - $150ish

Any Ideas?

You do not have to listen to TheBlackRose. He is a hardcore professional photographer who is not willing to help others. sleep.gif

If you want to have a camera to take detailed shot, you will need more money.

Do you perfer a compact or dslr camera?

Wtf..I didn't say anything.
I made a statement which is REALLY easy to intemperate...
"The only camera you're going to find for under $100 will be from Walmart, and will be plastic...with a 30Mb internal storage"

Your last question is also somewhat funny. $100-$150...And you're asking if he prefers a DSLR.
With a budget like that I'd be surprised if he even knew what a $500+ (For the cheapest ones) DSLR was.

I never said I knew nothing about cameras, I was just asking for advice. The only thing I didnt know were the prices because I've had the same camera for about 8 years, and during that time i never even looked at another camera. lol

I know what dslr is, not off the top of me head though. Digital something lense reflector or something along that line.
I dont need a top-notch professional camera, just a descent camera to quick shots with.

Anywho, I called my uncle who does photography as a *serious* hobby and he pointed me towards a Canon eos Digital Rebel XS. Said it would probably cost me 400-500ish but I would be worth it if i wanted good shots .

Asked what he had and he said he has a Canon eos 50D (cost him around $2k ).
