i have been contemplating purchasing some wide angle/fisheye adapters for my canon 1000d maybe some UV filters too

just wondering are these things any good?, cos i know i cant afford a proper fisheye lens.

have any of you lot used them or something similar?

anything else that you would recommend i'm gonna get a decent tripod soon too.

Well, they're not exactly good, but I'm sure some give interesting effects.

imo get a m42 adapter and some old m42 manual focus lens.

Hope the thread starter doesn't mind me hijacking his thread but I have been wondering about the same because I have seen people selling those old FD mount lenses extremely cheap so I wonder if there is an adapter so I could use FD mount lenses on my EF mount DSLR

you can use fd on eos, but you need adapter with glass in it that works as a magnifier(it was something like 1.3x crop factor or some) allso the glass reduces iq. Imo get m42 adapter, the lenses are cheap and they are very common and you can get good quality.
