So I''ve been reading many different guides and comparisons, and I've finally decided on buying either the Canon EOS 1000D / Digital Rebel XS or the Canon EOS 450D / Digital Rebel XSi.I for now, I plan on getting the standard kit-lens so I can learn exactly how to use the camera the its full potential. I know some people here use these models, so I want to ask you guys for you opinions. Keep in mind I'd like to stay as close as possible to my 1000$ budjet

I'm trying to figure out what kind of package would be best for me to buy. I've found a couple here: (Canadian $)

CANON REBEL XS BLACK W/18-55 IS - $599.99

or

CANON D-REBEL XSI W/ 18-55 IS - $799.99

Also, I would like to get a IS version of some type of telephoto lens, to photograph sports (soccer and track) and also some landscapes, such as forests or sunsets. I found this package:

CANON REBEL XS BLK W/18-55IS & 55-250IS - $899.99

If possible, I'm looking for a good "all around" lens, to try and minimize switching, but I know I won't be able to find an all-in-one.

So, is the 450D worth that extra $200? If so, why? smile.gif
Any recommended Tele-photo lens?

Over all suggestions are welcome! Anything I can use to help me is greatly appreciated biggrin.gif

I have the "CANON REBEL XS BLK W/18-55IS & 55-250IS", you can search on this subforum and see what I have posted. smile.gif

The 1000D is a cheap version of the 450D. Some say that the 1000D have better image quality. If you want to take pictures without using the custum functions I think you should buy the 1000D.
Some of the other guys in here know more about this subject than I do. So please wait for more information. smile.gif

He is not kidding either, they ARE nice. (Especially if it's your first SLR)

You don't want to go out and drop $2k on the most expensive gear and high end stuff if it's
your first SLR...you will have no clue how to use any of it and it will have been money wasted sad.gif

Totally agree. And the 450D is a very good looking camera.

You're paying for the lens' not the body.

Dont get xs its just a stripped version of the older 400d with new lcd screen and software. Id say u should get 400d(xti) or then 40d if u want to pay more than what the 400d costs
