the high resolution shot looks amazing. Did you use your 70-200 lens? and how many seconds did you let the shutter stay open?
lol and was it taken outside Calgary? Well I know the light pollution in big cities are quite severe and I don't think you would have taken a photo this clear in the downtown area tongue.gif
I have only seen a clear night sky like this when I used to live in a very small town with not much street lights.

I like this, i just wish the moon was in bit different place. You can see venus there quite clearly, its funny that if u look it where i live it seems to be in different place

You can't do this where I live - way too much pollution.

nice. yeah i think it will be with his 200mm you couldnt get that close with a 50mm unless the moon was massive

I had it in manual mode, about -0.5 underexposed, I am not quite sure of the shutter speed, but I think I held it for about
10 seconds or so to allow the light to travel from the moon/stars and into the shutter.

My 70-200mm lens W/ tripod and wireless trigger.
This was taken at a huge outdoor park with NO city lights around.
Had to walk pretty deep.


The stars looked amazing. I've never seen them like that before.
I think it was because of the Very crisp day before hand of about -33 Celsius.
