Hey everyone smile.gif My name's Gab and I just found my way here through the rest of the forums ohmy.gif I'm rather interested in photography and don't really know that much... One of the first questions that spring to me head is are "point & shoot" camera's do-able to take pictures with? Could anyone recommend a cheap one that has less modes and more user-freedom so to say (like the SLRs)? Thanks :3 Here's a quick shot of me: I got a question with my editing aswell, does anyone have any tips on blurring the background of shots? I can't seem to do it without getting a nasty outline ... Owells :C One of my (atleast as I consider) better shots:

I'm pretty sure less modes will give you more freedom lol.
Other way around?

I would definitely recommend you take a look at Canon's Powershot series.
Those cameras are GREAT for beginners and take really great pictures.

The price for what you pay for is great too.

Yeah, thanks! The picture in my first post is with my mom's powershot G9 which I borrow from time to time >: D That thing is awesome, it's like a small professional camera. Too bad it's damn expensive however.

G9? I think they are about $500 or less aren't they?

Anyways, if you wanted the best of the best point-and-shoot you could go with a Leica:

But those are much more expensive.

leica m8 isnt a normal point and shoot, its more like dslr.

g9 is great camera and used by meny professionals, because u cant carry a dslr all the time. But i dont find eny good reason to buy that kind of cameras, since cheap dslr is cheaper or same priced.
