Harsh lighting (it was snowing) but I'm happy with this picture anyway. Taken with my XSi + Canon 55-250 @ 250mm, ISO 800, handheld. I think the 55-250 is an incredible value given the sharpness of the photos you can take with it, especially when you consider this was handheld @ 250mm in a relatively low-light condition. I still want to get out there and take some really thought out photos, but the weather's been crappy. This was just taken off my front porch.

I don't know if he lives in there or not - I just happened to see him up there when I was walking out to my car so I went back in and got the picture first.

You mean you saw him first then you ran back inside your house and grabbed your camera and went out and took this pic? ohmy.gif You must have been very lucky that he was still there. I guess taking pics is kinda like mfing in D2, some times you do need some luck to find the best stuff laugh.gif

@Chantal: How are you pets doing? We haven't seen you posting any pics of them for some time. I guess it has been too cold for them to running around and taking nuts from your hand happy.gif

how does the 55-250mm compare to the 70-200mm L f4 lens?

The 55-250 actually has very good optics considering it costs only $230. It won't be as sharp as the L, but it is still pretty sharp. The build quality is low - plastic mount, plastic body, but lightweight. If I had the money to get the 70-200 I would've, although if you want one with IS it's going to cost about $950. Non- IS is about $600. If you're planning on shooting without a tripod, you may argue that this lens would be better than the f/4 non-is at lower shutter speeds because of the IS.

yeah but for the price of the IS one u'd just get the f/2.8 right?
