hmm well I guess if you plan to do whole a lot of editing and changing of your photos then a point and shoot should be enough tongue.gif

Point and shoot cameras are different than SLR cameras. They're okay, I've only had 2 to be honest, and I moved onto SLR to expand my photography hobby. smile.gif It's not bad that you got a new camera, no, but of course there is always going to be better out there. smile.gif I don't know much about the camera itself, that you got, never used one before.

Point and shoot (Source: wikipedia) icon_pointr.gif A point-and-shoot camera, also called a compact camera, is a still camera designed primarily for simple operation. Most of them use autofocus or focus free lenses for focusing and automatic systems for exposure as well.

DSLR (Source: Wikipedia) icon_pointr.gif A digital single-lens reflex camera (digital SLR or DSLR) is a digital camera that uses a mechanical mirror system and pentaprism to direct light from the lens to an optical viewfinder on the back of the camera.

Which type of sony cypershot is it?

I think you should know that the cards for Sony is like 2 - 3 time more expensiv than ordinary cards. (I know it is a small difference)

and another important difference between compact point and shoot camera and those much larger dslrs are the size of the image sensors tongue.gif dslrs have much much larger and better sensors (basically equivalent to film, a micro chip that capture the incoming light and transform it into digital images) thats why the pics taken with a dslr would usually look so much better than those compacts
