Some of you have started doing contests after my first one.
I think it's a wicked idea, and it can be a lot of fun.

However, I don't think you should be having contests with entries of PREVIOUS photos you have taken.
This spoils all the fun in it, and basically throws the "contest" part out the window.
It just becomes more of a "Show us the best shot you have ever taken of houses etc" thread.

The point of a photography contest, in my opinion is the challenge.
The challenge to go out, determined with the contest in mind to get an entry.
This is what makes it fun and original.

Just my opinion though, discuss.

The photo I won with here in MJ was taken a month or two before I heard about the contest. They never said that you HAD to go out there and take a "new" picture, they just said submit your favourite and as long as it follows the theme (which I think most contests are very much the same). I don't think it matters when you've taken it. And besides, if it was like that, people would just cheat anyway saying they took it bla bla bla days ago. Really, if you've taken a good picture a couple years ago, and you win a few photo contests with it, grats to you! Usually a photo contest, IS your best picture.

Also, if you want to do it "go out and take a new picture" I'd call it more like an assignment more than anything lol. I've seen some forums where they make topics for fun, saying "go out and take this kind of picture" and they compare all the pictures in one thread. It's actually quite fun.

That's just my opinion.

omg you won that contest? well congratulations heh why didnt you tell everyone here that you won a contest biggrin.gif theres nothing wrong with gloating and bragging jk

anyway I have to agree with ya. This must be the first time I ever heard that the participants in a contest have to enter with "new" photos it does sound more like an assignment to me. lol I saw this topic earlier but decided not to reply first, just wanted to see how the others would say about it tongue.gif

I believe among those roughly 2000 pics I took with my EOS 40D there are only maybe 10 of them that I would consider good rolleyes.gif then again I know I am a newbie

well I have heard there is also a exif reader or something a software that shows not just date created but also shutter speed, aperture etc etc

lol it just sounds weird that anyone would cheat in a contest unless theres a lot of money involved. its just stupid lol

oh really? ohmy.gif well lol it could be useful checking what setting I used to take certain pictures, especially some of those night pics of mine and if they dont turn out the way I wanted I would just have to remember and try another setting the next time, if that makes sense.

umm btw have you checked the stuff I posted about your cs3 crashes? just hope they will be of any help to ya
