Im looking at:

Sony A200 (dont really like it but some people say its good)
Nikon D60 (looks good, nice value for money with 18-55mm VR and 55-200mm lens)
Canon EOS 450D (same price as Nikon but with only EF-S 18-55mm lens)

I do like taking photos, and i would love to start to learn to take photos with one of these machines, ive looked at some reviews and most people say i cannot go wrong with the nikon or canon, which both look much better then the sony, and are both double the price! I would be prepared to pay the money for the better camera, though.

I just want a great performing camera which i cant go wrong with!

There was a big journalist i went fishing once with, and he told me i should get a good sound camera, but i must have a great lens, so maybe im better with the Nikon?

It would be great if you could tell me which camera you think i would be best with,

Thanx,

i mean i'm looking at getting the sony A200, mainly because with the nikon you have to buy only nikon lenses which are more expensive. the lens fitting on sony and canons are more universal (i think)

they are all reliable brands it just depends on your budget, i'm sure they all perform very well, if you can afford nikon or canon then go for it. It's just you might not have as much for extras e.g. bag, tripod, memory cards, lenses.

thats just my opion though.smile.gif

well from what I have heard and seen the Canon has much better af system, better viewfinder and of course full compatibility with all ef lenses
while D60 dont have built in af motor in the body so you have a quite limited number of lenses for it at least if you want to use auto focus
just read the reviews I posted above and youll know tongue.gif
lmao thats what I did when I was looking for a camera a few months ago I almost read all the reviews on the internet biggrin.gif jk

imo you should get 40d instead of 450d, 40d costs only bit more and is way better camera. If you dont want to pay that much you should get 400d instead, its cheaper and about same as 450d, but 450d has better lcd screen live view(totally useless imo) and just a bit better everything(so small changes u will not even notice it). Those cheap nikons need autofocus motor inside the lens and imo if u want nikon, dont buy the cheap models. Sony has high noise and doesent really mach up with canon or nikon. Canon has biggest lens selection.

The 40D isn't a little bit more than the XSi - You can get the XSi w/ 18-55 IS kit lens for $650. The 40D is about $900 for just the body, so by the time you buy a lens for it you'll be over $1000.

I was in this same situation and went with the XSi.

The XSi's features and image quality are superior. It's also more expensive, so it's not a 100% fair comparison. The XSi is regarded as the best dslr in its price range in terms of image quality, and even has better image quality than some cameras several hundred dollars more expensive.

It's a heavier built camera and can take more abuse, and also has some additional features. But as far as IQ goes, they are almost even.
