Just curious if anyone's used both. I already bought the Sigma (shipping) and am going to try it out. I have until Jan 31 to return it if I think I want one with IS.
What do you guys think? I know the build quality is worse on the Canon, but I don't really care about that. I'm looking for IQ comparisons of the two, but not finding a lot. Anyone used both?

from what Ive heard the canon lens isnt that great at all. the build quality and image quality are not much better than a standard kit lens

image quality is desent on the 55-250(and good for its price) and its way sharper than the kit lens, but its built like shit and af is slow since no usm, allso iq goes down pretty much after 200+mm. No idea about sigma.

sigma was my first telephoto, it's a pretty decent lens.
The 55-250 is much better though... in every way.

Do you have the 55-250? Or have you shot with it?

my friend owns one, it's not bad... guess I'm spoiled. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice lens for the price. The IS is pretty good and the IQ is ok.
