Ok, so I am in a pickle trying to decide between 2 telephoto zoom lenses.

My first choice is:

I would have to wait until Dec 15th to get this.
By Christmas I would have this lens, 50mm, batter grip, tripod, remote + a bit more (and the kit lens ofc)

OR

I would have this and all the same as the other kit, but I would have this lens on Nov 15th.
(which is basically the very end of nice weather)

I have no clue.
I have read reviews going both ways, and have seen A LOT of amazing nature/outdoor photography work with the 75-200.
+ great reviews.

I have also seen some OK, but not seeming as good of quality shots as the 75-200 with the other lens.
I've seen a few reviews on this saying it is a great lens, but most of those reviews in the end say to save up for the L series 75-200.
However, this one has IS. but I don't think IS will be a big problem in the outdoors with the amount of light there.

thanks for halp smile.gif

well canon's L lenses are probably the best EF lenses you can get for money so of course the image quality is better than the regular non-L 55-250 is lens
here is a review on ef-s 55-250 is lens it also contains some comparison with the 70-200 4.0 L lens...

Id say if you can afford it, save up for the L. I just recently got the 70-200 2.8 is L and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Thats the L for you. As far as IS you really need to decide if its something you need. I mean if your doing a lot of nature photography and you don't think that low light is an issue I wouldn't worry about it. Also do you use a tripod a lot?

Yep go for the l lens if u like to shoot with telephoto, on that 55-250 the af is really slow and pain in the ass, its non usm. I dont think is helps that much since things u shoot with telephoto are quite fast moving targets and fast moving targets need fast shutter speed enyways. Is will help you to shoot like 1/30 secs and thats too slow to catch a squirrel or a bird enyways. If u need to shoot in dark u should get lens with f-2.8 instead of f-4 or more and with is

Battery itself is so good on 450d, that imo battery grip is pretty useless. Where do u need remote enyways? U can put the camera on timer.

WOW I never realized the 55-250 didn't have USM.
Basically I will be hand holding the 75-200mm and shooting nature (eg wildlife)
Also some landscape, or anything else I feel I would like to zoom into.

I will also use a tripod for some shots.

The 70-200 f4 L is a real gem, fantastic image quality and build.
The 55-250 is a consumer lens... in all aspects...

I would get the 70-200, if you get the 55-250 you will be kicking yourself and will want to upgrade... Buy good, buy once.
