60 canon or 90 tamron I would say.

If you are out of budget look for a second hand one.

There is also Sigma 50 f2.8 Macro which is even cheaper than Canon 60mm
but if you want a lens with which you can shoot bugs without scare them away
you should look at those 100mm macro. With Sigma 105mm being a quite cheap alternative

50 macro cannot reach 1:1 right?

60 mm in a aps crop is fine imo.

Anyway also tokina 100 is good.

In any case I believe that tamron 90 is best choice. At least that you do not want to invest more and buy a 100 macro canon.

In my opinion he should just spend anther 100 bucks and get a EF 100 macro which is way better than any of these.

I believe you are thinking about the Canon 50mm macro :p the Sigma has the 1:1 ability without accessories.

I guess your hands are quite large then. To save weight I don't use any battery grips and the 40D/50D feels perfect in my hands while the Rebels are a bit too small.
Why don't you get both? I believe the 5Dmk2 + 40D or 50D combo will be perfect for my needs but if I will be able to get a good deal on the 7D it's going to be a perfect second body.
Those studio equipment of yours probably cost more than a 5Dmk2 :p
haha you should have taken a picture of you hand-holding that 500L
So I guess that's your dream lens? I think mine is the super duper EF 200 f2L IS  but it's just sooooooo expensive

btw are you from Korea? just curious

I don't usually use the grip with my 50D, but i'll slap it on when i know i'll be shooting an entire day to prevent having to change batteries mid-way... It also helps balancing when i have a large lens mounted.

I was having geargasm that day... taking a self-portrait that day with me holding the 500L never crossed my mind.. Man... now that i think of it, it would make a great profile pic

My dream lens is the 1200L, B/C if i had that... i'd be at least a millionaire

haha I see you are even a bigger gear-whore than I am
Man! I'd hate to walk around all day with a heavy lens AND a grip. I'd rather have two bodies instead :D
pfft you'd only add unnecessary weight to an already heavy lens and camera combo.
:D if I ever get my hand on a 500L I'd probably slap a Rebel on it to make it more hand-holdable

lol the 1200L is like what? 120k? :D
I would probably have to sell all my organs to be able to afford that :D

If I had to chose a lens, I am a romantic, I would chose Leica 50 1:0,95.

Yeah yeah everyone wants a 11k f0.95 lens :p
but didn't you say that you hate heavy lenses? I doubt that lens is any lighter than the Canon EF 50 f1.2 :p
btw I have seen Leica users shooting with the old Canon 50mm f0.95 lens :O

It's probably cost as much as the Leica version

well, for big and heavy I was thinking at the 70-200 f2.8... Anyway I believe that I would do the effort for the 50 0,95 :D

Good focus, but you must have cropped it excessively to lose a lot of quality.
