I love how the D700 feels gripped. It's got wonderful ergonomics.

You've got wonderful ergonomics, if you know what I mean.

none of the pro's i have seen, and i have been involved in many major sporting events
1/2 use the D3s and the rest is a mixture

many people do poor choices, even the pros.

reuters and getty image shooters used canon in bejing olympics. d3s wasnt released by the time of the olympics and d3 seems to have pretty poor af in extreme situations(like sports) compared to 1d mkIII. d3s naturally beats mkIII, but mkIV beats d3s in af.

well at the last event all the big boys were there, getty, reuters, api, epa etc etc
and still most used the D3s, thy would far rather go with fps > af
i dont care what articles say, this is what i have experienced personally

on another note, i found they getty photogs really nice guys

1d mkIV has 10fps and d3s has 9fps, but 11fps if using small jpg on crop lens mode (5.1 MP), but i doubt that anyone shooting for high end customers would use crop lens + small jpg mode, since most news agencies require at least 10MP files. so in reality 1d mkIV has faster fps + it has better AF

Read the comments on that page. It wasn't fair test, with the Nikon cameras not set up properly.

I think I`ll order a battery grip for my 5D Mark II now. after shooting with bg for over a year on my old cam, it feels like there´s missing something with the new body, even tho it´s much bigger.
