It's not as lame as admitting that i'm too lazy to go out and shoot macros

Also, you'd be surprised how good the 100L is as far as bokeh goes, sure it's not as extraordinary as the legendary 135L. But it's no slouch either.

I'll do a comparison one day.

Edit: check here.

Ouch! So you had to send in both your 100L and 135L?? :O
and I thought the quality on Canon's L lenses are very high
Yeah I have read a few reviews on the 100L Macro and now I want it too :( but at least I have until next summer to get one :D
Judging by all the lighting stuff you have I assume you are into studio photography. I am the opposite though I just love the outdoors
especially finding and shooting bugs and plants :p and I just can't imagine myself being inside dealing with a bunch of grumpy ppl on my
days off that's what I have to do on my work days -_-

I'm going to send both in yes.. but i haven't yet... it's hard to lose both of my favorite lens >_<

I guess i'm just unlucky with my L's... no one ever seems to complain about the qc on these lenses but me.. -_-

I actually don't shoot in my studio at all except for the first few days.. serious waste of money. I might start back up again soon, or i think i might sell it to fund a new lens.

Yeah I guess you have to be extremely unlucky to have gotten two faulty L's :( -_-
It's kind of like my bad luck with Sigma. I sent in my Sigma 10-20 for calibration and got it back and it still produces the same soft images as before
so now I am just waiting to upgrade to FF and get a UWA for that.

hmm why don't you just sell them and get a 5D mk2? and keep the 50D as backup and for action shots?
I am dying to get that camera just waiting for the Xmas sales :D and I am sure the L's will definitely shine on a FF

I heard Sigma is pretty good at fixing their lenses if you send them in. Maybe another trip to the doc?

I dunno about the 5D2 now... this past weekend i was at a event with about 10 other local photogs... (i was shooting something for the motion contest :P )

I got to play with some other cameras that we have at the event. I was lucky enough to play with a 5D2, 1DIV, a 7D and a 500L. The 1dIV is out of my budget definitely... but i'm digging the AF system on the 7D. It just works!!

Gawd.. the 500L is something that i'll be lusting after for a long long time. I shot a few images with it on my 50D too :P.

yeah. I'll probably send it in later and I have to have the mount replaced too because I dropped it not long ago and the mount was sort of dented so I had to "shave" off a little bit of it in order for it to mount to my cameras again lol.
Other than that it's still producing the same soft images now as before I dropped it. It got neither worse nor better. lmao it would be funny if the drop fixed it :D

Holy cow! haha I can only dream of the 500L. Well I suppose if I save for like a year or so... Then again there aren't much wildlife where I live so it is really no point in getting such a long lens :D
Well the 1D series are great but the sheer size and weight scare me lol as I have mentioned in another thread I already have some problem walking around with my 40D + 24-70L and 50D +135L and just imagine walking around
with two huge ass 1D's. Besides the 7D is almost as good as the 1Dmk4 and probably better than the older 1D's and at one third the price of a mk4 :D
Well I am into landscape photography and want to learn more so I do hope with the purchase of a FF and a decent ultra wide lens for it plus some filters will improve my skills :D

You should drop it a few more times to see it that would fix it... i mean it can potentially save you $20 for shipping.

The 1D bodies are really really heavy.. for the short time that i was holding it... it's definitely heavier then my 50D+grip, but then.. it does feel good in my hands. I honestly don't know whether i want to get a FF or a 7D. I like to shoot landscapes but i like to shoot wildlife too :[.. the 1.6 crop factor can really help out.

500L Sooc shot, i literally shot this girl from across a football field. It's not perfectly sharp.. but i was handholding this behemoth of a lens.

Any good affordable Canon macro lenses that anyone would recommend? And by affordable I mean under 400 or maybe even under 300?

I guess your hands are quite large then. To save weight I don't use any battery grips and the 40D/50D feels perfect in my hands while the Rebels are a bit too small.
Why don't you get both? I believe the 5Dmk2 + 40D or 50D combo will be perfect for my needs but if I will be able to get a good deal on the 7D it's going to be a perfect second body.
Those studio equipment of yours probably cost more than a 5Dmk2 :p
haha you should have taken a picture of you hand-holding that 500L
So I guess that's your dream lens? I think mine is the super duper EF 200 f2L IS  but it's just sooooooo expensive

btw are you from Korea? just curious

60 canon or 90 tamron I would say.

If you are out of budget look for a second hand one.
